Blues, Boogie and Big Band Swing
Take a journey from W.C. Handy’s St. Louis Blues to Stan Kenton’s Artistry in Rhythm with samples of great film performances, fascinating behind-the-scene stories and spirited live music. Program features popular presenter Bill Messenger.

The Mighty Five
Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Jerome Kern, Irving Berlin and Richard Rodgers are the five most important Broadway composers of the 20th century. Under the guidance of Bill Messenger we will study their songs and lives and their lasting influence on the Broadway musical.

Taste of Lancaster County
Whoopie pies, Amish roast, homemade ice cream…guests will enjoy these tastes and so much more. Program includes hands-on experiences as well as visits to some of Lancaster County’s favorite “food stops” including Lancaster Central Market, Jam and Jelly Kitchen in Kitchen Kettle and an Old Order Amish home for a traditional meal.

Coordinated by Black Rock Retreat Center.
