Road Scholar
Program #20815RJ
13 Days | 12 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Active
Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Program date intended for grandparents, their children and grandchildren ages 10 - 17.

Three generations experience the beauty, power and legends of Africa together on this family safari-plus-more adventure. Feed a towering giraffe, walk among grazing zebras and even touch a baby elephant. Learn how the Maasai people live off the land and protect themselves from dangerous animals, and help Maasai children herd the calves and goats into the village. Study lions, cheetahs, crocodiles, flamingos and other fascinating creatures.

Highlights

• Visit the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust’s Orphan’s Project, where animal experts prepare elephants that have been orphaned by poachers to return to the wild.
• Learn the skills that Maasai warriors use to protect themselves from wild animals and don traditional Maasai dress.
• Game drives and walking safaris give you a great look at wildlife including lions, cheetahs, leopards, wildebeests, gazelles and hippos.
Due to the nature of this program, listening devices are not available.

Activity Notes
