See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Meet the minds of the Oregon Health and Science University and learn how their work is breaking new ground in the field of medicine. At a state-of-the-art primate center, scientists explain the role of primates in advancing medical research. With hands-on simulations and lectures, delve into the bioethical concerns of medical discovery, and learn the key issues of stem-cell research.

Highlights

• Meet a former Humanitarian of the Year and hear about his transformation from medical student to celebrated discoverer.
• Learn about recent medical trends as you meet experts on diverse topics such as stem cells and oncofertility.
• Find out how to protect yourself from medical quackery, and consider strategies to help the aging remain independent.

Program Notes

All program lecturers are Principal Investigators or staff scientists at OHSU's Primate Research Center. Due to the heavy and changing schedules of these experts, individual topics and lectures cannot be guaranteed. The daily schedule gives examples of past lectures that may or may not be repeated on this program.

Activity Notes

Walking up to one mile on level terrain; standing up to one hour at a time.

Coordinated by Road Scholar.
