Investigate Hilton Head Island from shore to shore and delve into its many influences on the history of the American South. Travel back in time on the Honey Horn History Walk to learn of Native Americans, planters, hunters and other islanders of the past, as well as of the plantation system that existed on the islands from the 1700s until the Civil War. From alligators to no-see-ums, study the area's intriguing natural inhabitants, and savor authentic Southern flavors with a real lowcountry boil.

• Through fascinating field trips you will discover how oysters are hand-picked and enjoy a scrumptious lunch at the Bluffton Oyster Company, then explore the heart of Hilton Head in Harbour Town, Sea Pines Resort’s picturesque yacht basin!
• Probe the unique African-American culture of the Gullah with their traditions, folk rituals and language. Plus, with the new hands-on demonstration, you will learn to weave Sweetgrass baskets!
• Get up close on the crawling and swimming critters of this barrier island as you walk on the beach and learn how to throw a seine net - later, enjoy the secret succulence of She-Crab Soup!
