Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Hike back to — and through — the creation of our planet and the 5 millennia of human inhabitation and struggle for survival in the timeless, rugged and battered coasts of Gros Morne National Park and northern Newfoundland. See how glaciation events and continental drift shaped the land we see today. From alpine vistas, rocky coasts, and deep fjords, capture the spirit of the land and people as you lose yourself to the stunning views and the lullaby of the rough seas.

Highlights

• Garner knowledge on the complex geological history of the earth, as you hike among the earth’s oldest rock formations and one of the few places where the earth’s mantle is exposed.
• Explore the precontact Port au Choix National Historic Site. Gain insight at the archeological sites and learn how the Maritime Archaic, Palaeo-eskimo, and the ancestors of the Beothuk cultures survived.
• Learn about the rich marine ecosystems that sustained both ancient and modern Newfoundlanders at the Bonne Bay Marine Station in Norris Point.

Activity Notes

Hikes of 2-5 miles with elevation gains up to 984 feet over rocky terrain, gentle hills, and groomed trails.

Coordinated by Routes to Learning Canada.
