Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Under the guidance of a noted professional photographer, capture the beauty of nature and sites of historical and cultural significance. Learn principles of composition, isolate image elements, read and assess the quality of light and develop your personal aesthetic in classroom workshops, on-location instruction and post-camera techniques. Put what you learn into practice during photography field trips around our home base, the picturesque resort village of Put-in-Bay on South Bass Island, and nearby Middle Bass Island.

• Enjoy opportunities to photograph sunrises and sunsets, wildflowers and wildlife, plus panoramic views from the top of Perry’s Monument and the International Peace Memorial.
• Take field trips to sites normally closed to the public such as Benson Ford “Ship” Vacation Home, Historic Lonz Winery, and South Bass Island Lighthouse.
• Share your work during a photo discussion workshop.

Activity Notes

Walking up to 3 miles per day over uneven terrain in nature preserves and rocky beaches on shorelines; chartered boat trip to Middle Bass Island, steep stairs down to caves.

Coordinated by Lake Erie Islands Nature and Wildlife Center.
