Road Scholar
Program #21493RJ
9 Days | 8 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Active
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Experience the Pacific Northwest and the Canadian Rockies on a journey by train from Seattle to Banff aboard the Rocky Mountaineer train. Learn about some of the world’s most magnificent stretches of railway, experience sunset views of Bellingham Bay and the San Juan Islands and then cross the Canadian border as the train hugs the Pacific Coast and travels into Vancouver. Marvel at the towering Coast Mountains and fertile Fraser Valley en route to Banff as experts illuminate the changing landscape and the natural and human influences that have shaped it.

Highlights

• In Seattle and Vancouver, explore local markets, distinct culture and fine neighborhoods, and even get a bird’s-eye view of Seattle from the Space Needle.
• Journey through the majestic Canadian Rockies to Banff National Park with on board commentary highlighting the history and development of the Canadian Pacific Railway.
• Ascend Sulphur Mountain in a glass-enclosed gondola, encounter Lake Louise, learn of pioneers who tamed the Canadian West and learn how the railway made Banff a Victorian luxury paradise.
