Program #21307RJ
7 Days | 6 Nights
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Join us to explore the best of bustling Philadelphia – America’s Colonial Capital – and Cape May, NJ – the country’s leading Victorian-era seaside resort, with a stop at glorious Atlantic City along the way! Time travel from the 18th Century to the present, beginning in architecturally rich Philadelphia, which boasts a vast collection of Georgian, Federal and Second Empire style buildings in addition to cutting-edge contemporary high rises. Then head to charming Cape May, a town at the tip of New Jersey with the second largest number of beautifully restored Victorian homes in the nation. En route, explore the “Boardwalk Empire” of Atlantic City, with lunch near the boardwalk and free time to explore. See all the major sights of both destinations – Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, culturally rich neighborhoods and picture-perfect Victorian homes showcasing expansive views of the Atlantic. Take in detailed historical lectures, and gain insight into other fascinating facets of Mid-Atlantic history, including Colonial & Civil War era medicine and the story of two generations of the Physick family.

• See the "best of" two fascinating but very different destinations - the cultural metropolis of Philadelphia and the lively coastal city of Cape May, NJ.
• Learn the history of these two fascinating places, and follow an architecture trail that dates from Georgian Philadelphia to Victorian Cape May.
• Enjoy a visit to Atlantic City, NJ, with lunch at a well known restaurant that was popular during Prohibition.

Activity Notes

Walking up to two miles on city streets; stairs, uneven surfaces in historic neighborhoods.
