Films of Fred Astaire
Out of the Depression emerged a new genre, the film musical. Fred Astaire’s movies of the 1930s and '40s are among the best musicals of this era, ranging from 1936’s “Swingtime” with ginger Rogers to 1942’s wartime musical “The Sky’s the Limit.”
