Program #20183RJ
9 Days | 8 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Active
While all of our learning adventures offer extraordinary value, our "Best Value" programs were rated by our participants themselves who thought their dollar went particularly far.
Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Discover Southeast Alaska’s incredible fjords and islands, accessible only to small ships that can bring you up close and personal to an abundance of amazing wildlife. Encounter brown bears foraging along the shore, eagles soaring overhead, whales lunge-feeding and tons of ice thundering from the face of a glacier. Six naturalists are on board with you to illuminate key moments. Accompanying you will be the most knowledgeable Expedition team in Alaska as well as a native Tlingit interpreter and a National Park Ranger to add layers of history and insider knowledge.

Highlights

• Explore the remote locations within Alaska using the onboard fleet of zodiacs, kayaks, the ship's hydrophones, and a video microscope.
• See what few have ever seen, as the onboard undersea specialist reveals Alaska’s vibrant, seldom-seen marine life.
• Research scientists from the Alaska Whale Foundation join you onboard to improve your sightings and understand these magnificent creatures.

Activity Notes

Walking up to 1.5 miles at a time on sandy and uneven terrain. Some steep stairs. Many optional opportunities for walks, hikes and kayaking on your choice of a slow, moderate or active pace. Shore landings by Zodiac boat.
