EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
The history and operations of Chicago’s leading theater companies come alive as you join theater professionals for behind-the-scenes access to actors, scenery, designers and more. Attend a total of three classic and contemporary plays, with two at the Tony Award-winning Steppenwolf and Goodman theaters, and one at an emerging, risk-taking theater in one of the small venues for which Chicago is famous. Meet costume designers, art directors and operations staff who further enlighten you about life inside the theater business.

Highlights

• Meet a drama critic from the Chicago Tribune who offers a look into the art of criticism and the state of the American stage today.
• Take in an exclusive play reading by professional actors and learn about their craft during a private Q&A session.
• Attend three theatrical performances in the heart of Chicago’s theater district.

Activity Notes

Moderate walking, some stairs; getting on/off bus.

Coordinated by Jewish Community Center Chicago.
