Road Scholar
Program #15533RJ
5 Days | 4 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
To celebrate Road Scholar’s 40th Anniversary, we have enhanced one of our favorite programs at Tanglewood! Begin with two nights in Boston — home to Road Scholar — discovering its unique neighborhoods, as well as the Museum of Fine Arts. En route to the beautiful Berkshires, experience the Worcester Art Museum. Then enjoy four nights at Tanglewood, summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra since 1936. Attend three concerts and discover the Tanglewood grounds on an expert-led exploration, with behind the-scenes access to performers and BSO staff. Hear instrument demonstrations with BSO musicians and attend lectures to heighten your enjoyment of the concerts.

Highlights

• Enjoy a Welcome Dinner in Boston to celebrate Road Scholar’s 40th Anniversary, then explore the inimitable character of Boston neighborhoods with an expert, including a special morning at the renowned Museum of Fine Arts.
• Engage with BSO instrumentalists as they demonstrate their skills and discuss what it is like to be in a world-class symphony orchestra, and learn from BSO staff about its inner workings.
• Step inside legendary Russian maestro Serge Koussevitzky’s private summer residence at Tanglewood, and experience the Berkshires home of Pulitzer Prize-winning American novelist Edith Wharton.
