Road Scholar
Program #9265RJ
6 Days | 5 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Active
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Revel in the delights of this emerald-green corner of the Pacific Northwest. Mingle with farmers and artisans as you dodge "flying fish" at the Pike Place Market. Marvel at the meadows, glaciers, wildflowers and waterfalls of Mount Rainier. Witness art in creation at the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, learn about the past at the State History Museum and spend a day in Victorian Port Townsend on the Olympic Peninsula. Feast on wild salmon and Dungeness crab, observe migrating Chinook salmon at the Ballard Locks and explore Seattle neighborhoods.

Highlights

• Walk nature trails on Mt. Rainier’s southern slope and learn onsite about the historic Paradise Inn and glorious Narada Falls.
• Admire the beautiful works of the Dale Chihuly glass exhibit in Tacoma’s historic Union Station and walk across the Chihuly Bridge of Glass.
• Ferry across Puget Sound to picturesque Port Townsend, where you sample fresh seafood, visit a Victorian mansion and more.

Program Notes

Optional hiking at Mt. Rainier. Elevations of 5,500 feet.

Activity Notes

Walking up to two miles per day.
