See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
There are few better places in North America to take your fly fishing skills to the next level than the rivers and streams of Yosemite National Park. Becoming a better fly fisher requires the right equipment and a knowledge of where to cast, and this adventure in an iconic location puts the pieces together for you at a value no solo fisher can match. Begin by letting certified local experts teach you how to read the river and fit you for the proper equipment. Then, during three afternoons and evenings of fishing with individualized instruction, improve your casting, fly-tying and river-reading skills while at the same time gaining firsthand knowledge of Yosemite from experts who truly know the park.

Highlights

• An avid fly fisher and experienced teacher leads classroom sessions on local streams and fly-tying techniques, and all required equipment is provided by a local outfitter.
• Fish for three days in a group of four casters and one instructor at two premier locations— on the Merced River and Big Creek in summer and on the Merced River and Tuolumne River in fall.
• Take a bus field trip to the iconic sites of Yosemite Valley, and commute through the park to each fishing location with interpretation of the natural environment, local cultural history and issues affecting the park.

Program Notes

Program suitable for fishers of beginning and intermediate skill levels. Maximum group size is 16. Student-instructor ratio in the field is four to one. All equipment is provided, save for a California fishing license.

Activity Notes

Walking one mile each way on uneven terrain to and from each fishing location. Standing in moving streams during three afternoons and evenings of fly-fishing. Elevations up to 4,000 feet.

Coordinated by Evergreen Conference Center Oakhurst.
