ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding, and rewarding, programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Program intended for grandchildren from 8 - 11 years of age.

Experience for yourself where the largest land creatures of all time once roamed! Walk in the footprints of the dinosaurs, dig your own fossils and hike ancient rocks as you and your grandchild explore the prehistoric treasurers of the majestic Rocky Mountains. Come in July to discover dinosaur remains at Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument and other treasures of the eastern slope of Colorado, including the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, Dinosaur Depot, a working gold mine and the top of Pikes Peak. Or join us in August on the western slope for visits to prehistoric sites, excellent museums, and Dinosaur and Colorado National Monuments, as well as a hands-on paleontological dig at Dinosaur Quarry and fossil-hunting hikes.

• Explore museums filled with amazing interactive displays of the prehistoric world, including the largest-ever discoveries in Colorado of mammoths, mastodons and other prehistoric animals.
• Journey back in time at outstanding national monuments and dig for your own fossils in private quarries.
• Trace the actual preserved remains of dinosaur tracks and bones and investigate the who, what, why, when and how of the prehistoric world with experts.

Activity Notes

Walk one mile on uneven surfaces at high elevation; activities and hikes require stooping, climbing inclines.
