Road Scholar
Program #21073RJ
6 Days | 5 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Active
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
If you’re looking for a more flexible schedule with ample independent time and several meals on your own, then our FLEX learning adventures are made for you.
Experience a flex version of our popular Aspen Music Festival program, reveling in a glorious week of music while enjoying behind-the-scenes access, plus the independence to take in cultural activities on your own. Enjoy ticketed evening concerts featuring the world’s most accomplished and promising classical musicians. Each day, lectures and presentations illuminate the 650 student musicians and 200 guest artists who make the annual pilgrimage to this magnificent mountain festival. Ample free time lets you choose some festival events and opens the door to the Snowmass and Aspen area’s spectacular scenery and diverse attractions.

Highlights

• Attend five major ticketed concerts and an Opera Master Class with lectures by music experts.
• Get special access to festival events and musicians.
• Enjoy opportunities to visit Snowmass Village and Aspen, ride a gondola up Ajax Mountain and more.

Program Notes

The 2014 season theme explores "Romanticism in music", with works on the program by Beethoven, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, and more, performed by artists such as Yefim Bronfman, Midori, Jeremy Denk, and David Finckel and Wu Han. The complete festival schedule can be found when announced on the web at www.roadscholar.org. Early arrival on first day recommended due to first ticketed performance that afternoon or evening. This learning adventure is one of our FLEX programs. It offers a more flexible schedule than our traditional programs and includes ample independent time and several meals on your own.
