Program #18923RJ
7 Days | 6 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Active
While all of our learning adventures offer extraordinary value, our "Best Value" programs were rated by our participants themselves who thought their dollar went particularly far.
Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Join an expert birder and experienced Road Scholar instructor on daily bird-watching hikes, drives and field sessions among every major habitat in south-central Wyoming. Spot herons, grebes, phalaropes and a variety of waterfowl amid the wetlands of two National Wildlife Refuges, and search the surrounding shortgrass prairie for Horned Larks, McCown’s Longspurs, Golden Eagles, Ferruginous Hawks and Prairie Falcons.

Highlights

• Enjoy birding in sagebrush-covered foothills, spruce-fir forests, mountain meadows and lakeshores.
• See high mountain bird species arriving with the melting snow and colorful wildflowers emerging.
• Learn about the natural and human history of the southern Wyoming ranchlands.

Program Notes

So you can get the most out of your experience, all of our birding programs have a maximum participant-to-instructor ratio of 14:1. Road Scholar birding programs are conducted in accordance with the American Birding Association’s Code of Ethics. Learn more at http://www.aba.org/about/ethics.html
Due to the nature of this program, listening devices are not available.
