Program #2284RJ
6 Days | 5 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderately Challenging
Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Bicycle historic pathways past scenic fields, rivers and homes as you join a small group of adventurers for a revealing look at the James River area, one of America's richest historical centers. Your learning journey spans the Colonial era from Jamestown to the Siege of Yorktown 174 years later, with fascinating lectures setting up your field trips to Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown Battlefield, and Berkeley Plantation. Enjoy your exercise and a history lesson all at one time.

Highlights

• Bike sections of the new Virginia Capital Bike Trail, stretching from Jamestown toward Richmond, as well as the entire historical Colonial Parkway.
• Experience an expert-led walk in Colonial Williamsburg to learn about shops, gardens and 18th-century lives, then remount your bikes to explore the campus of the College of William & Mary.
• Ride several off-the-beaten-path trails that wind along rural roads and through suburban landscapes, including a tucked-away nature park.

Activity Notes

Biking 15-30 miles per day, mostly flat terrain, occasional hills; 21-speed mountain bikes provided.

Coordinated by Road Scholar.
