Program #21399RJ
15 Days | 14 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Active
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Amid late-spring beauty in the Mid-Atlantic states, sail on a nimble small ship from Chesapeake Bay to Philadelphia, past Manhattan’s magnificent skyline and up the lower Hudson River to experience an authentic American portrait — Colonial era to present day — richly textured in history, architecture and culture. Learn about quaint village life, the splendor of the Rockefeller estate, the noble Liberty Bell, Army and Navy service academies, FDR & Eleanor — more than 300 years of history unfolds in this uncommon adventure.

Highlights

• At Colonial Williamsburg, glimpse life as it was in the 17th and 18th centuries — stopping at bakeries, taverns and restored homes of wheelwrights, apothecaries and other tradesmen.
• In Philadelphia, trace history at Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell, and at the majestic Philadelphia Museum of Art, view Impressionist masters — Cezanne, Monet, Renoir.
• Sail the spectacular lower Hudson River and experience field trips to the Rockefeller estate, the FDR Presidential Library, Eleanor Roosevelt’s Val-Kill and the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

Activity Notes

Walking up to two miles per day, some on uneven terrain. Standing for up to two hours at a time, up to four hours a day. Mobility is essential, as small boats and tenders are sometimes used for disembarkation and re-embarkation. There is no elevator on the ship and stairs are unavoidable.
