Program #21271RJ
6 Days | 5 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Active
Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Colorado’s world-class ski resorts all have two things in common: more than 300 inches of snow and more than 300 days of sunshine each year. Meanwhile each resort has a unique flair, whether it’s Winter Park’s history as one of the oldest ski-friendly regions in Colorado or Crested Butte’s Victorian storefronts and expressive local characters. Choose your preferred destination and hit the slopes at your own pace with local experts who know each resort.

Highlights

Carve through snow so good that Colorado skiers have given it the nickname “champagne powder.”
Experts familiar with the resorts lead small groups of skiers with similar speed and terrain preferences.
On-mountain presentations provide insight into various aspects of these breathtaking destinations.

Date Notes
2/22/2015
This date features skiing at Crested Butte. A historic mining-turned-ski town, Crested Butte is the place to inspire your passion for adventure. With vibrant Victorian storefronts and expressive local characters, Crested Butte remains true to its heritage and radiates a welcoming spirit that will take you back to a simpler time. The ski area receives an average of 300 inches of snow per year and more than 50 percent of its trails are marked for intermediate skiers. 3/1/2015
This date features skiing at Telluride. Founded in 1878, Telluride’s history is as colorful as the Victorian homes lining the streets. Snow once despised by local miners falls in glorious abundance on the tops of mountains and covers the trails for a superb skiing experience. Telluride is often ranked as one of the most scenic ski areas in the world, with more than 2,000 skiable acres and 4,425 feet of vertical drop. Lodgings in the historic downtown are connected to the ski area by a gondola just five minutes from the front door.

Coordinated by Mountains and Plains Institute.
