Road Scholar
Program #1197RJ
6 Days | 5 Nights
Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Experience the ever-changing beauty of Yosemite and the expansive Sierra Nevada, legendary landscapes of the West whose unique geology, flora, fauna and Native American history will captivate you on a learning adventure led by an exceptional instructor/storyteller. On two daylong field trips to Yosemite National Park, you will hear tales of early pioneer settlements and local lore. Experience the majesty of nature as you walk the trails.

• Stop at Tunnel View for your breathtaking first glimpse of Half Dome, and stand before natural and manmade marvels like El Capitan, Bridalveil Fall, Sentinel Bridge and Yosemite Falls.
• Walk trails that wind among giant sequoias, the world’s largest trees and some of the oldest living things on earth.
• Study Yosemite artists like Albert Bierstadt, Thomas Moran and others, and visit the Ansel Adams Gallery and the Native American Village and Museum.

This specific season represents a unique time to visit the park-- the transition between autumn and winter. Visitors to the valley have significantly dropped while roads are typically free of ice and snow. While standing in the the meadows one is likely to notice the sound of meandering Merced River, the wind displacing leaves from their branches, the call of the winter birds, and the permeating peace found in the beauty of the shadow cast by the 4,000ft of sheer granite walls. Yosemite is all your own in this glorious season. Join us for an adventure packed with real quality time with a seasonal Park Ranger.2/22/2015
Yosemite is a spectacular winter wonderland! Our field trip bus is properly equipped for snow travel and the Park Guide is anxious to point out winter`s unique decoration on the already breathtaking Yosemite Valley. Winter in Yosemite boasts a quiet and serine experience with fewer visitors, snow capped granite cliffs and domes, grande ice cycles, slow moving frozen streams of "frazzle ice", and often a snow cone beneath Yosemite Falls that can reach up to 400 feet high! Count yourself fortunate to utilize this spectacular opportunity.
