Program #21264RJ
7 Days | 6 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Embark on an adventure from cosmopolitan Atlanta, Ga., to charming Asheville, N.C. Begin in Georgia’s capital with a visit to the Jimmy Carter Presidential Museum and a behind-the-scenes experience in CNN’s world headquarters. The museums and mansions on the campus of the Atlanta History Center round out your stay in this lovely city before you set out on a scenic drive into the mountains to picturesque Asheville. There, immerse yourself in the history of the Biltmore Estate and discover why chocolate and red wine pair so well during a tasting at the Biltmore winery, then delight in the Benjamin Long IV Fresco.

Highlights

• On the journey from Atlanta to Asheville, revel in the beauty of the surrounding Appalachian vistas and walk with an expert through the historic Balsam Mountain Inn.
• Learn how the city of Atlanta rose from the ashes of the Civil War to become a national center of commerce.
• In Asheville, discover not only the rich architectural legacy for which the city is known, but also its history as an art colony, healing resort and home to notable statesmen and luminaries.

Activity Notes

Walking up to one mile per day on concrete paths. Standing one hour or more during museum field trips.
