Road Scholar
Program #14490RJ
6 Days | 5 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
With more than 300,000 acres under cultivation, Ventura County is a cornucopia of foods from avocados to zucchinis. Visit traditional and organic family-owned farms to see what is in season, and go behind the scenes to observe the production of beneficial bugs, taste produce fresh from the field and enjoy lively food demonstrations, including an outstanding wine tasting and banquet guaranteed to have you returning to this land of plenty.

Highlights

• Explore rich Ventura County farmland and sample the bounty as you see firsthand how crops are picked, processed and shipped worldwide.
• Taste farm-fresh produce in the field and during a carefully crafted wine-pairing dinner experience.
• At Sun Valley Growers, watch a rainbow of fresh-cut flowers as they are harvested and bundled up for sale at major US retailers.

Activity Notes

Walking and standing up to one-half mile, some uneven terrain in orchards and fields; stairs in packing house; moving equipment in commercial venues.

Coordinated by Road Scholar.
