Road Scholar
Program #1076RJ
7 Days | 6 Nights
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Experience the iconic landscapes of Northern Arizona and the Grand Canyon by land, water and air! Relive the old west in Prescott before traveling through Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon. At Grand Canyon National Park marvel at the many scenes of nature’s geologic wonderland from the viewpoints along the South Rim. Then prepare for a thrilling helicopter ride into the canyon to the Colorado River for a raft trip through the Grand Canyon.

• At Grand Canyon National Park, visit the famous Desert View Watchtower and South Rim sites; in remote western Grand Canyon, drive into the canyon's depths to the river on the Hualapai Reservation.
• Visit a five-story, 800-year-old Sinagua cliff dwelling at Montezuma Castle National Monument before exploring the red rocks of Sedona.
• Take a helicopter ride to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and float down the Colorado River on a raft.

Program Notes

In 2015 this program spends four nights in Flagstaff and two in Peach Springs. It will not visit Prescott, Sedona or Diamond Creek Road. Grand Canyon National Park and the Colorado River raft trip are still included. Additional sites visited are the Museum of Northern Arizona, Walnut Canyon National Monument, Meteor Crater, and the historic La Posada Hotel in Winslow.

Activity Notes

Walk one mile on paved, rocky, sandy trails; some sloped uneven terrain. Getting in/out of rafts. Elevations 7,500 feet.
