Road Scholar
Program #14180RJ
7 Days | 6 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderately Challenging
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Explore past and present geology of the West in a must-experience adventure. Field lessons will provide illustrations of explosive events and Pleistocene glaciations alongside current examples of thermal dynamics and active fault uplifting. Spend two days in Grand Teton National Park and three days in Yellowstone National Park while studying the timeline of these land-altering forces.

Highlights

• Explore the glacially carved gem of Phelps Lake in the Laurence S. Rockefeller Preserve, a glorious land previously off-limits until donated by the Rockefellers in 2008.
• Visit the Gros Ventre Landslide—the largest in U.S. history, and see the impacts of the slide on the area.
• Hike along the rim of Yellowstone’s Grand Canyon marvel at the 305 foot waterfall from Inspiration Point.

Activity Notes

Walking up to four miles with elevation gain up to 500 feet. Elevations of 6,200-8,000 feet.

Coordinated by Teton Science Schools.
