ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding, and rewarding, programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Uncover a fascinating geologic story beneath northern New Mexico’s landscapes. With an expert geologist, visit Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument, Bandelier National Monument, White Rock Overlook, the Valles Caldera and more. The enchanting landscape of northern New Mexico has long inspired artists captivated by its beauty and expanse.

• Experience the one-million-year old Valles Caldera (volcanic crater) formed in response to a eruption of ash from the magma chamber.
• Discover the White Rock Overlook with its magnificent views of the Rio Grande; the surrounding cliffs illustrate the rock strata of the region.
• Explore Bandelier National Monument’s 10,000-year history, when nomadic hunter-gatherers followed migrating wildlife across the mesas and canyons.

Activity Notes

Walking up to two miles with rest stops over packed dirt, sometimes rocky, fairly even terrain. Elevations up to 7,000 feet.
