While all of our learning adventures offer extraordinary value, our "Best Value" programs were rated by our participants themselves who thought their dollar went particularly far.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Experience the Southwest on an exceptional adventure focused on award-winning American author Tony Hillerman. Join Anne Hillerman — the novelist’s daughter — and her professional photographer husband, Don Strel, on a 13-day, three-state exploration of people and locations Hillerman wrote about in his 19-book mystery series featuring officer Jim Chee and Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn of the Navajo Tribal Police. Hear specially chosen speakers, view film adaptations of Hillerman novels, and discuss his books and creativity with the family who knew him best.

Highlights

• As you experience the culture of Native American pueblos and speak with members of the Navajo Nation, photograph Hillerman subjects with tutelage from Don Strel.
• Explore Crown Point Rug Auction, Zuni and Acoma Pueblos, the Grand Canyon, Canyon de Chelly, Monument Valley, Window Rock and more.
• Receive an autographed copy of "Tony Hillerman's Landscape," written by Anne Hillerman with photography by Don Strel.

Activity Notes

Walking up to two miles over uneven terrain.
