Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. Minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding, and rewarding, programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Up for a challenge? Based at 9,000-foot Pingree Park, tackle some of Colorado and Rocky Mountain National Park’s most rewarding peaks: Signal Mountain, Stormy Peaks, and Fall Mountain. Learn light-packing techniques, expeditionary leadership skills and mountain safety. Climbs are non-technical but very strenuous and back to back. Our goal is to prepare you for further climbing adventures on great mountains of the world or on our companion “To the Top, Hiking Colorado 14ers” Road Scholar Program (#9891).

• Attempt climbs on three peaks (up to 12,700 feet) in Rocky Mountain National Park and the Comanche Peaks Wilderness area of Roosevelt National Forest.
• High- and low-element ropes courses allow for personal challenge and teambuilding.
• Learn about hiking, mountain safety and high-altitude acclimatization.
Due to the nature of this program, listening devices are not available.

Activity Notes

Pre-conditioning above 5,000 feet strongly recommended. Climbs are weather-dependent and 6-8 hours long, 8-16 miles daily round-trip with elevation gains of 3,500-5,000 feet.

Coordinated by Mountains and Plains Institute.
