ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding, and rewarding, programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Carved into New Hampshire’s White Mountains by the moving waters of the Saco River, Crawford Notch is an impressive gorge that is teeming with wildlife, steeped in beauty and history, and is a paradise for skiing enthusiasts. With seasoned Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) professionals, learn or improve your techniques as you practice Nordic (cross-country) skiing along snowy trails, and hear about the history of this beloved sport in the region. Gain a deeper appreciation for the animals, plants and ecology of Crawford Notch during informative lectures and field trips, and enjoy evenings of stargazing and snowshoeing along idyllic trails.

• Join AMC naturalists as they share their first-hand knowledge of the ecology, animals and plants of the region.
• Learn about the history of skiing during a field trip to the New England Ski Museum.
• Meet local past champions and an Olympian to hear about their experiences as Nordic skiers.
Due to the nature of this program, listening devices are not available.
