5 Days | 4 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Active
Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Explore the mystique of mustangs and our relationship with these wild creatures, learning about their re-introduction to North America and modern-day efforts to preserve them. Learn why 70 percent of America’s wild horses live in Nevada and the ongoing conflict over land use. At the Palomino Valley Wild Horse Placement Center, observe methods of gathering and caring for the animals, and relish the opportunity to see these horses in the wild.

Highlights

• Meet representatives from local wild horse advocacy groups as they explain their mission and lead a trip to see the horses in the wild.
• Visit Nevada State Prison’s Wild Horse Gentling Program to observe the extraordinary relationship that develops between the inmates and horses.
• A professional photographer, specializing in capturing the essence of these horses in the wild, shares his experiences chronicling the life of various local herds.

Activity Notes

Walking up to 1.5 miles on uneven ground, standing for up to 45 minutes.
