Road Scholar
Program #2805RJ
7 Days | 6 Nights
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Experience the depth and majesty of Grand Canyon from both rim and river. Take not one but two different yet equally spectacular raft trips on the Colorado River, book-ending the incomparable Grand Canyon. Enjoy a smooth water float beneath the towering cliffs of Glen Canyon, alighting where the Canyon officially begins at Lee’s Ferry. Then explore the Canyon from the heights of Grand Canyon National Park’s South Rim with its sweeping panoramas and historic village. The adventure culminates with a thrilling helicopter ride in the mile-deep canyon and either a smooth water float or a thrilling white water raft trip through remote western Grand Canyon -- depending on the date chosen.

• Enjoy two raft trips on the mighty Colorado River, lifeblood of the desert Southwest.
• Spend two nights on the South Rim of Grand Canyon with field exploration, stunning viewpoints, star-studded skies, and personal exploration time.
• Travel through the western end of the vast Navajo Nation and visit Peach Springs and Grand Canyon West on the remote Hualapai Reservation.

Activity Notes

Walking up to one mile on uneven ground. Board and disembark rafts. White water option will get wet. Elevations visited will be between 2,000 and 7,000 feet. On the S. Rim the distance between the lodging and dining area requires up to a 1/4 mile walk. Check Roadscholar.org for more detailed information (program #2805).
