EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Program intended for grandchildren from 9 - 11 years of age.

Share an adventure with your grandchild by air, land and sea! In the heart of Ohio — the state once called home by the Wright Brothers — immerse yourself in the science of flight as you fly your own remote controlled aircraft with the Waco Historical Society Barnstormers. Learn about Ohio’s frontier days as you join muleskinners for a boat excursion on the Miami-Erie canal, and visit the Johnston Farm where living history interpreters explain what life was like 200 years ago. Then, get an up-close look at Ohio’s wildlife as you study owls, mammals and join in a nature hike with experts at the Brukner Nature Center.

Highlights

• Team up with your family to build your own birdhouse and explore the tree top bird vista at the Brukner Nature Center.
• Learn about spinning, weaving and traditional games at Johnston Farm.
• Fly kites and learn about the science of helicopters and gliders during a day at WACO Field.

Activity Notes

Hiking trails through a wooded area may include small hills. General moderate walking.
