Journey scenic Puget Sound by way of its marine highway to experience the idyllic Pacific Coast and three iconic communities along its shores. Explore Seattle, Victoria and San Juan Island as you discuss the combination of history and geography unique to each place and look ahead to what the future holds for these spectacular Northwest locales.


• Learn about Seattle history on visits to Pioneer Square, Pike Place Market and the Hiram Chittenden Locks.
• Enjoy botanical beauty and indulge in Afternoon Tea within the spectacular Butchart Gardens.
• In the San Juan Islands, enjoy the unique island lifestyle; abundant wildlife; and scenic natural beauty of one of the nation’s newest National Monument lands.

Activity Notes

Walking up to 10 blocks, sometimes on dirt paths or uneven surfaces. Standing up to one hour at a time on field trips; walking up or down boat ramps for travel aboard ferries; some stairs at historic buildings with no elevators. Frequent getting on and off of mini-bus /van. Bus/van does not have lift.

Arrival Seattle, Wash., 3 nights; ferry to Victoria, British Columbia, 3 nights; ferry to Friday Harbor, San Juan Island, Wash., 3 nights; ferry & coach to Seattle, departure.

Date Notes
Due to the ferry schedule, this program date includes presentations on contemporary life and history of the San Juan Islands instead of the Fisgard Lighthouse at Fort Rodd Hill in Victoria.
