Program #20735ENZ
6 Days | 5 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderately Challenging
Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Come see why the Florida Bicycle Association chose DeLand as its new state headquarters as you ride along the city’s scenic trails and through surrounding small towns steeped in history. Meet local historians, professors and political officials to get a comprehensive view of local history and a myriad of ways to access it via bicycle. Ride to Blue Springs State Park, follow the Ormond Scenic Loop through Tomoka State Park and along the Atlantic Ocean, bike through DeLand’s mural and sculpture walks and much more.

Highlights

• Meet a local government official to discuss bicycle trail development and study the physiology of the cyclist with an exercise and physiology professor.
• Get a taste of life in rural Florida in the bygone days of the late 19th and early 20th centuries at the Pioneer Settlement for the Creative Arts.
• Encounter the flora and fauna of a flourishing but fragile river ecosystem during a study cruise on the St. Johns River.

Activity Notes

Bike 25-30 miles, 4-6 hours per day at 10 mph or more on paved country roads. Group bicycling with pacesetter.

Coordinated by Stetson University.
