EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. Minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding, and rewarding, programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
The Southwest is the keeper of America’s best-preserved archaeological treasures. That heritage continues today in the modern Hopi and Navajo culture of northeastern Arizona. Hear personal insights as Native American representatives share cultural achievements, historic struggles and modern challenges. Then journey to uncover the mystery of Chaco Canyon, a UNESCO World Heritage Site displaying prehistoric architectural masterpieces.

Visit cliff dwellings at Walnut Canyon National Monument and, on the Hopi Reservation, explore Old Oraibi, the oldest continually inhabited American settlement.
On the Navajo reservation enjoy a 4x4 vehicle trip into the heart of Canyon De Chelly.
Journey to the center of the Ancestral Puebloan world — Chaco Canyon — to explore the Pueblo Bonito, Chetro Ketl and the Great Kiva of Casa Rinconada.

Activity Notes

Walking up to 1.5 miles on pavement or packed dirt and gravel. Exploration of ruins at Chaco Canyon requires agility to maneuver around rocky, uneven trails.
