Road Scholar
Program #20644ENZ
11 Days | 10 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate
Road Scholar has thousands of educational adventures to choose from. A good way to narrow down our list is to browse our collection of "Most Popular" programs.
See all of our Most Popular programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
If you’re looking for a more flexible schedule with ample independent time and several meals on your own, then our FLEX learning adventures are made for you.
Explore the historic jewels of Charleston, Savannah and Jekyll Island on a foray into history, culture and low country cuisine. Traverse 300-year-old Charleston from the French Quarter to Fort Sumter and experience plantation life at the Middleton and Magnolia plantations. Enjoy Southern charm, city squares and local cuisine in Savannah, and encounter the likes of Morgan, Rockefeller and Vanderbilt during a stay at the Jekyll Island Club Hotel.

Highlights

• In Charleston, visit the Edmondston-Alston and Nathaniel Russell homes and learn about Gullah culture.
• Spend the day in Beaufort, S.C., a seaside village whose antebellum homes appear in numerous films.
• An island away, travel from Jekyll Island to St. Simons to explore charming Christ Church and the Avenue of Oaks.

Activity Notes

Walking up to one mile on some uneven terrain with cobblestones and sandy paths. In Charleston, walking up to 3 city blocks.
