Road Scholar
Program #19280ENZ
6 Days | 5 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Active
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Taste the flavors of the Lowcountry during this culinary immersion into the history and cuisine of South Carolina. Rub elbows with some of Charleston’s top chefs as you explore this historic city and its most notable restaurants and take part in a private cooking demonstration that will introduce you to the techniques of Lowcountry cooking. Discover how Charleston’s cuisine has evolved over the past 300 years as you sample the specialties of local eateries and culinary landmarks.

Highlights

• Learn the art of Lowcountry cooking from expert chefs in entertaining, hands-on presentations in a state-of-the-art demo kitchen.
• A field trip to the Charleston Tea Plantation — located on picturesque Wadmalaw Island — offers a look at the only tea plantation in the U.S and Angel Oak Tree.
• Soak up the history of Charleston at sites like the Palmer House, the Battery and the City Market.

Activity Notes

Walking up to two miles per day, some uneven terrain. Bicycle taxi -seats two people- available (your cost) for those who would like to ride instead of walk. Must be arranged ahead of time.
