EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Propelled by paddle and kayak, navigate through Canada’s richest areas of cultural history and ecological diversity. Beginning in the capital city of Ottawa, set off by kayak down the Rideau Canal and come to understand how this historic waterway serves as the lifeblood of the rural communities along it. Amid a labyrinth of granite and pine islands in clear, green waters, get up close to early Canadian settlement with stops at several UNESCO World Heritage Sites and meet a range of local experts and personalities not available to the individual traveler.

Highlights

• Admire the splendid historic architecture on display in Ottawa, including Canada's Parliament Buildings.
• Experience breathtaking vistas and captivating wildlife as you paddle through the historic Thousand islands and along the Rideau Canal
• On a study cruise through the Thousand Islands, stop at Boldt Castle for a glimpse of one of the most compelling love stories in history.

Activity Notes

Active program, full days spent on the water. Kayak 3-12 miles, (dis)embark boats. Flat-water paddling with one day of kayaking on Class II whitewater.
