Program #20602ENZ
6 Days | 5 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Easy
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Enjoy an overview of three masterful musicians of the Classical to Romantic periods, from the "age of elegance" to music of "passion." Investigate the myths and rumors concerning Mozart’s death and study masterpieces created in his final years when his creativity was at its zenith. Beethoven’s concertos rank among the most highly regarded in musical literature. Through a variety of recordings, study the history and development of Beethoven’s influence on the concerto’s evolution. Explore a number of his exceptional works for piano and ensemble as you explore the amazing virtuosity of Franz Liszt. Discover how he revolutionized the way the piano is played and how his visionary compositional style became a doorway to the next century.

Highlights

• Delve into Mozart's The Magic Flute, the Clarinet Concerto, the motet Ave verum corpus, the Requiem, and other works.
• Explore a work of Beethoven's youth-- the Rondo in B flat as well as his mature piano concerti--the c minor Op.37.
• Delight in performances by Peabody artists and exceptional students, and take advantage of free access to the world-class Walters Art Museum across the street from campus.
