While all of our learning adventures offer extraordinary value, our "Best Value" programs were rated by our participants themselves who thought their dollar went particularly far.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Program intended for grandchildren from 8 - 12 years of age.

Spend a week with your grandchild enjoying and learning about Minnesota's beautiful north woods. Build lasting memories through hands-on activities while exploring for animals, becoming French voyageurs and practicing Native American skills. Learn the ecology of forests and streams, hone your map and compass skills and more.

Highlights

• Experience Lake Superior up close on a field trip to the big water, including a gourmet picnic lunch.
• Live the history of the fur trade by paddling a voyageur canoe, making fire with flint and steel and frying bannock over an open fire.
• Face the challenge and excitement of a high-ropes adventure, crossing cables and logs 25 feet off the ground, and climb the Mystical Mountain Indoor Rock Wall.

Activity Notes

Most classes outdoors and active, rain or shine. Hiking two miles, rugged trails, elevation changes up to 350 feet.

Coordinated by Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center.
