Program #20349ENZ
6 Days | 5 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Active
Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Program intended for grandchildren from 8 - 12 years of age.

Explore the wonders of central California with your grandchild. Journey into a 100-year-old underground home and learn about the creatures of prehistory at the Fossil Discovery Center. Search for gold like a prospector, ride a steam engine through the sugar pine forest, build an underwater robot, and hike through the magnificent domes, granite cliffs, meadows, and Sequoia groves of Yosemite. Take part in interactive evening presentations where you meet rescued birds, explore the night sky, sing campfire songs and much more.

Highlights

• Explore Yosemite Valley from Bridalveil Falls to the Yosemite Museum’s Indian Cultural Exhibit and Yosemite Falls.
• Visit the Fossil Discovery Center of Madera County to view the fossilized remains of giant mammoths discovered at the site.
• Sift through the silt in search of gold as local gold panning experts help you in your quest for fortune. Later, learn about how robots work and join together to create and manipulate a real underwater robot!

Activity Notes

Walking up to one mile, each day, over uneven terrain. Elevations up to 7,200 feet.

Coordinated by Evergreen Conference Center Oakhurst.
