EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Come to Cape Ann, the "Whale Watching Capital of the World" and enjoy a different boating experience each day! Sail on a 90-foot schooner, journey down the Essex River and view six lighthouses of Cape Ann along the granite coastline. Learn about this beautiful Atlantic setting with ecologists, naturalists, historians, lobstermen, fishermen and ship builders. This historic and picturesque coast north of Boston is home to America's Oldest Seaport, established in 1623, and has brought artists, fishermen and beach goers to the area for hundreds of years. Enjoy New England's wonderful summer weather on land and sea!

Highlights

• Explore the landmarks of Gloucester Harbor, including Ten Pound Island and Rocky Neck Art Colony.
• Learn about local boat building traditions during a morning at the Essex Shipbuilding Museum.
• Look for Humpback, Finback and Right whales, dolphins and schools of cod on a whale watch.

Activity Notes

Walking 3-5 blocks over smooth surfaces; some stairs; embark/disembark boats & coach bus.

Coordinated by Road Scholar.
