Program #2196ENZ
6 Days | 5 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderately Challenging
Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Experience a pedaling adventure along Maine’s cliffs and rocky coast and the 360-degree views atop Mount Cadillac. Delight in the heady perfumes of sea and pine as you weave between the rocks of Mount Desert Island and ride extensive car-free routes. Educational forays explain the park’s geologic and natural history, as well as the importance of fishing to the “Downeasters” as you savor their fresh catches in the quaint getaway of Bar Harbor.

Highlights

• Ride around the shore of Somes Sound, the East Coast’s only fjord, as well as between the cliffs of Mount Desert and the rough sea.
• Pedal through extensive carless carriage roads engineered by John D. Rockefeller, Jr. with an expert cycling instructor and biodiversity field guide.
• Enjoy panoramic views of the ocean and forests atop the highest peak on the Atlantic Coast.
Due to the nature of this program, listening devices are not available.

Activity Notes

Rides up to 12-20 miles, 3-5 hours of activity; some steep climbs; hybrid bikes provided.
