EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
In Zion, Bryce Canyon, Grand Canyon and Capitol Reef national parks, as well as in Grand Staircase-Escalante and Parashaunt national monuments, make discoveries about the complexity of human settlement and the mingled adaptation of plants, animals and humans. From dwarf pinion pine forest to ancient bristlecone pine and high country, hike daily with a geologist and ponder the forces that begat massive cliffs, the gouge of the Colorado River, hoodoos, domes and much more.

Highlights

• Hike in Zion while a geologist interprets red-rock cliffs, riparian areas and Checkerboard Mesa.
• Contemplate eons of nature’s handiwork among the formations of Bryce’s Queens Garden and Navajo Loop trails.
• The human history of the Southwest emerges amid Native American ruins in Anasazi State Park.

Activity Notes

Hiking 4-7 miles on groomed trails, uneven terrain; some significant elevation changes. Elevations up to 9,000 feet.
