ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderately Challenging (Variable by Program Date)
While all of our learning adventures offer extraordinary value, our "Best Value" programs were rated by our participants themselves who thought their dollar went particularly far.
Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. Minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding, and rewarding, programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Grab the reins for an adventure that will have you feeding, grooming, saddling, and riding a horse — with a general introductory program for beginners or a fast-paced advanced program for experienced riders. Ride through beautiful pastures and out into the Shawnee National Forest, past sandstone bluffs, rock-bottom creeks, waterfalls, and oak-hickory forests as you gain new appreciation for the bond between human and animal, as well as the great outdoors, on this extraordinary adventure.

Highlights

• With a max group size of eight, enjoy individual instruction from our knowledgeable and experienced certified riding instructors.
• Bond with your assigned horse for the week, and learn about horse behavior, personalities and breeds.
• Explore the unique beauty and biodiversity of Southern Illinois on either an in-depth introductory program or a more challenging advanced program.
Due to the nature of this program, listening devices are not available.

Activity Notes

Moderately Challenging: Horseback riding for up to 2 hours at a time; trail rides increase in length and difficulty throughout the week.

Challenging: Horseback riding for up to 5-6 hours a day and trails pass over more challenging terrain.
