6 Days | 5 Nights
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Easy
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. Minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding, and rewarding, programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Spend a week with one of the country's leading authorities and performers in the field of Ragtime, Dixieland and turn-of-the century popular music. Learn about great musicians like Scott Joplin, W. C. Handy, Irving Berlin, Fats Waller and others, and immerse yourself in the music with live piano performances of the tunes for which these artists are best remembered. Also explore Jekyll Island – one of Georgia’s southernmost barrier islands – home to the famous Jekyll Island Club, the exclusive and lavish resort where families like the Rockefellers and Vanderbilts once wintered.

Highlights

• During your stay, learn the history of the extravagant Jekyll Island Club Hotel, formerly one of the most exclusive clubs in America which counted Morgans, Rockefellers and Vanderbilts among its members.
• Learn from one of American’s leading authorities and performers of Ragtime, Dixieland and other popular turn-of-the-century music with live piano performances and engaging lectures.
• Venture to the Georgia Sea Turtle Center to witness the sea turtles that use the beaches of Jekyll Island as nesting grounds every year.

Program Notes

The Jekyll Island Club Hotel has a limited number of handicapped-accessible rooms. Please notify Road Scholar Contact Center Staff upon registration if a handicapped room is required. These rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
