ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding, and rewarding, programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Program intended for grandchildren from 9 - 12 years of age.

Pry open an Eastern oyster. Hunt for shark’s teeth. Operate a radio-controlled sailboat. Experience all of this with your grandchild exploring Chesapeake Bay’s amazing natural world and maritime history, based at the premier maritime museum on the bay. Test a vintage pedal boat and comb a beach digging for shells and fossils. At Point Lookout State Park, dip your canoe paddle into the bay and seine for fish. On a memory-making adventure, experience historic lighthouses, lookouts and ships as you walk with your grandchild in the footsteps of adventurers from days gone.

• Enjoy the entertaining tricks and illusions of “Super Magic Man,” as well as live animal programs.
• Build a toy boat and cruise on a Chesapeake Bay workboat — the historic William B. Tennison — as you learn why oysters have played such a crucial role in Chesapeake Bay life.
• Based at the Calvert Marine Museum, enjoy time with your grandchild and the opportunity to independently explore the area during program-supervised kids’ activities.
