Love to learn in a small-group setting? This collection of programs has at most 10-24 participants.
See our Small Group programs.
EasyFor people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
ModerateThese programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
ActiveFor people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately ChallengingFor hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
ChallengingGet ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.
Start of Program
Jun 27, 2013
Lunch provided for morning arrivals. Hotel check in 2:00 pm. Meet in lobby at 4:00 for neighborhood walk
You will be staying at the Hotel Messner that night.
Location: Venice
Nearest city or town: Venice
Nearest airport: Venice Marco Polo
Transportation to site: To reach the program site on your own from the Venice airport you can take a boat or a combination of bus and boat. Take the "Alilaguna" Blue Line from the airport dock to Piazza San Marco (ride is about 1 hr, fare is EUR 15), then take vaporetto #1 (public boat) (fare EUR 7) to La Salute stop, which is across the Grand Canal from San Marco (very short ride). At La Salute cross over the third bridge and walk straight for 500 ft. The Hotel Messner is on your left. If you prefer to take a bus and then the vaporetto, there are frequent buses that depart right in front of the airport terminal that go to Piazzale Roma, the square at the end of the causeway that connects Venice to the mainland. Fare is EUR 6 pp From there take vaporetto #1 (fare EUR 7) down the Grand Canal (ride takes about 45 min.) and get off at La Salute stop. Follow directions above to the hotel. For direct service from the airport dock to the hotel dock there is a more expensive option - water taxi. Fare for the private transportation service is approx. EUR 130. Max 6 passengers with luggage to a taxi boat.
