Easy
For people looking to exercise their minds more than their bodies. There’s minimal walking and not too many stairs.
Moderate
These programs get you on your feet and include activities such as walking up to a mile in a day through a city and standing in a museum for a few hours.
Active
For people who enjoy walking as much as two miles a day, perhaps to explore historic neighborhoods or a nature trail.
Moderately Challenging
For hardy explorers who enjoy a good physical challenge, spending most of their days on the go.
Challenging
Get ready to keep up with our highest-energy group. These demanding — and rewarding — programs are for seasoned outdoor enthusiasts.

Inn
Description:
Like the slow-growing Joshua trees in the nearby National Park, the 29 Palms Inn at the Oasis of Mara in the Morongo Basin of the Mojave Desert has grown gradually and organically from the late 1920’s. Surrounded by a natural preserve of 70 acres filled with fan palms, palo verde and mesquite and teeming with year-round and migratory species of birds and other wild life which flock to the artesian-fed pond, the Inn offers nature-oriented solitude and serene panoramic views of the desert to the north and the mountains to the west. The 29 Palms Inn consists of a friendly, idiosyncratic and comfortable collection of adobe-walled bungalows, historic wood-framed cottages, and small desert houses of diverse vintages. You’ll find some rooms have fireplaces to keep guests warm on chilly winter nights and others have private patios with marvelous desert views. All rooms are adorned with works by accomplished local artists. You’ll enjoy the Inn’s outstanding restaurant noted for its homemade breads and fruits and vegetables picked fresh from the Inn’s garden, and thrill to the brilliant, unimpeded display of the Milky Way galaxy in the vastness of the night-time desert sky. After a day of hiking and exploring, you'll find relaxation in the Inn’s outdoor pool and hot tub. A massage may be scheduled in the comfort of your room by making an appointment in advance. The Inn has a library which is full of maps and guides for your use. The Inn’s rooms are 100% non-smoking, although smoking is permitted outside in designated areas.

Room amenities:
All rooms have cooling and heating. For rooms with a fireplace, a bag of firewood is provided in the colder months. All rooms are 100% non-smoking, although smoking is permitted outside in designated areas. There are no telephones in the guest rooms.
Facility amenities:
The 29 Palms Inn consists of an old-fashioned collection of adobe bungalows and framed cottages centered around a lush spring-fed pond on the Oasis of Mara and widely spaced around the 70 acre property for maximum privacy and quiet. Birds and wildlife are drawn to the pond, lending peace and interest to the environment. Walking paths of hard-packed desert sand connect the numerous bungalows and cottages and lead to the main house, restaurant, and outdoor pool with full-service bar. The Inn’s fine restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner and features a well-rounded selection of delicious foods. A year-round vegetable garden produces much of the delicious fare offered at the Inn. Complimentary sweet breads, muffins, coffee and juice are served on the patio by the pool in the mornings. The 29 Palms Creative Center & Gallery, located down the road from the Inn, offers art classes and exhibits of works by local artists. To preserve a tranquil atmosphere, there are no telephones in the rooms. Cable television is available but most TV sets are small and black and white, in keeping with the Inn’s orientation towards nature, serenity and outdoor activities. However, you will find wireless networking (WIFI) around the pool. The Inn is ideally situated within walking distance of both the town and the Oasis Visitor Center, the main entrance to Joshua Tree National Park
