Description: The Grafton Inn is one of the oldest operating inns in America, having opened its doors in 1801. Some of the most notable guest to visit they inn were, Ulysses S. Grant who came to the Inn on December 19, 1867, while campaigning for his first term as President,Daniel Webster, Oliver Wendell Holmes, Theodore Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson and Ralph Waldo Emerson. It is part of the Historic Hotels of America. Located in the lovely village of Grafton, Vermont, the inn is part of the nonprofit Windham Foundation which is dedicated to preserving the vitality of Vermont's rural communities. A stay at the inn will help to fund the Foundation's many philanthropic programs. The Grafton Inn is famous for its imaginative cuisine, thoughtfully prepared with fresh locally sourced food and exploding with flavor. The Grafton Inn restaurant is part of the Vermont Fresh Network and dedicated to using as many local products as possible. Participants will utilize the main house and guest houses set close together in the village center. Most of the Inn’s historic rooms house their guests in a charming room with one bed. Rooms with two beds are reserved for our matched roommates. Though all rooms are accessible by a flight of stairs, based on availability, a limited number of first floor or elevator-accessible rooms may be requested for those with mobility issues. All special requests must notify Road Scholar in advance.
